Scholar guidelines
Effective 5 October 2026
In short. Find a scholar lists verified ulama so people can reach them outside the app. List only yourself, keep your profile true, never charge or advertise through Moazzin, and pause, withdraw or delete your account whenever you like.
Moazzin (the app and moazzin.com) is made and run by Hassan Ansari, an individual developer in India. “We”, “us” and “our” on these pages mean him. Write to [email protected] about anything on this page.
These guidelines apply to every scholar listed in Moazzin's Find a scholar, together with the terms of use and the privacy policy. Version 2026-10-05.
Who can be listed
- You must be 18 or older and a scholar (for example an alim, alimah, mufti, qari or hafiz) who takes questions, teaches or leads programs.
- List only yourself, under your own name and a title you hold. One profile per person.
- Every profile is verified before it is listed: by a sanad or certificate, by vouches (a mosque admin, an institution, or two listed scholars), or by a short call with a reviewing alim. Reviewers are Moazzin's super admins and ulama they appoint. Sanad files are deleted once a reviewer decides, and at most 30 days after upload.
Your consent
- You make two separate choices, both optional and unticked until you tick them: “List my profile publicly in Moazzin and on moazzin.com/u/<id>”, and “Show each contact method I add, revealed only when someone taps”. You can create an account without either.
- Without the first, your profile is never listed in the app or on the web and can't be sent for review. Without the second, no contact method is shown or revealed. Your public web page also needs “Show my profile on moazzin.com”.
- Each choice is recorded with its date and this version. If these guidelines or the scholar part of the privacy policy change in a way that matters, the version changes and your profile is taken off until you agree again from the banner on your scholar pages.
- On your scholar pages you can change or hide each contact method, withdraw either consent, pause and resume your listing, and delete your account and data. Deleting is immediate and can't be undone; the confirmation is shown on screen, with a reference, and we never email you.
What a profile may say
- Only true information about you: your name, title, institution, sanad, maslak and fiqh (every maslak is listed neutrally), languages, services, areas served and the contact methods you want people to use. Contact methods must be your own.
- Moazzin is a directory only: no chat, booking, payments, ratings or fees. Whatever you agree with people happens outside Moazzin, between you and them.
- Your answers and teaching are your own. Moazzin does not check or endorse them, and a listing is not a fatwa or a recommendation by us.
- Don't put in a profile, a note or a photo: prices, advertising, fundraising or links to them; titles, institutions or vouches you don't have; attacks on other scholars, maslaks or groups; or anything the mosque guidelines forbid (false, hateful, obscene, unlawful content, other people's personal data, malware).
Reports and what we may do
- People can report a listing in the app: “not this person”, “contact doesn't work” or “inappropriate”. “Inappropriate” from two different people suspends the listing at once until a reviewer decides. “Contact doesn't work” from three people hides that contact method until you change it. You see the counts and reasons on your scholar pages, never who sent them.
- Reviewers may ask for more, decline (two reviewers must agree; you may apply once more after 90 days), suspend or restore a listing. We may also remove a listing that breaks these guidelines or the law, or to act on a valid complaint or legal order. Every decision is in the reviewers' audit log.
Problems and grievances
To report a problem with a listing or with how we handle your data, email [email protected] with the profile's address (for example moazzin.com/u/…). Complaints are handled as the mosque guidelines describe, by the same grievance officer and within the same times.
