Mosque and admin guidelines
Effective 3 October 2026
In short. Only people a mosque trusts publish its times. Keep them accurate and on time, publish nothing else, and keep your passkey to yourself. Anyone can report a problem to [email protected].
Moazzin (the app and moazzin.com) is made and run by Hassan Ansari, an individual developer in India. “We”, “us” and “our” on these pages mean him. Write to [email protected] about anything on this page.
Moazzin hosts pages and times that mosques publish themselves (moazzin.com/m/…). These guidelines apply to everyone who publishes, along with the terms of use and the privacy policy.
Who can be an admin
- You must be 18 or older and have the mosque committee's permission to publish for it.
- Admins join only by an invitation link from us or from an admin above them. Each mosque has at least one mosque admin and up to five people.
- Roles: mosque admins edit, publish and invite for one mosque; admins edit and publish only; area admins look after the mosques in one city and can step in for them (recorded in the history); we keep overall oversight.
- Your sign-in is a passkey on your own device. Don't share it or the device. If a phone is lost, ask the next admin up to remove it and re-invite you.
What to publish
- Only the mosque's own information: its name (and Urdu name), its location pin, fiqh, maslak, microphone use, khutbah languages, and its jama'at and Jumu'ah times.
- Keep times accurate and up to date. Publish a change at least a day before it takes effect: phones check for updates when they open the app or refresh in the background, usually within a day.
- If a board scan fills a draft, check every time before publishing. Scans are read by AI and can be wrong.
- Don't publish anything else, and in particular nothing that:
- belongs to someone else or that you have no right to publish;
- is false or misleading, or impersonates another mosque, organisation or person;
- is defamatory, obscene, invasive of someone's privacy, hateful, or insulting on grounds of religion, sect, caste, ethnicity or gender;
- harms children, encourages violence or illegal acts, or threatens the unity, integrity, security or public order of India or any country;
- contains personal data such as phone numbers of individuals, or any malware or links to it;
- breaks any law in force.
What we may do
- Published times are public. Anyone may see them on the mosque's page, follow them in the app, print them and share them.
- We may correct, hide or unpublish content, or remove an admin, when it breaks these guidelines or the law, when the committee asks, or to act on a valid complaint or legal order. Followers' apps then keep their last times and show that the mosque no longer publishes.
- Every change is kept in the mosque's history with the name of the admin who made it.
Reporting a problem and grievances
